Kirsten Ertl

Over the past 25 years in education, I’ve been honored to work with children and to receive the Mequon-Thiensville School District Outstanding Educator Award in 2016 and the Mequon-Thiensville Education Foundation (MTEF) Excellence in Teaching Award in 2024. I’m excited to begin a new chapter as I join the Initiative One team, bringing my experience, passion for leadership, and belief in continuous growth into this next phase of my professional journey.

I grew up in Wauwatosa and I earned my Bachelor of Music in Music Education Degree from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. I also hold a Master’s Degree in Special Education and a second Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis on Creative Arts in Learning.

I enjoy spending time with my two sons and husband, Phil and relaxing at our cabin in Northern Wisconsin. My family will tell you that I’m never far from a good book, as reading is one of my favorite pastimes.
